History of MacroAsia Corporation

MacroAsia Corporation (MAC) traces its roots to Infanta Mineral and Industrial Corporation, its original corporate name upon incorporation on February 16, 1970.  The Corporation was then formed for the purpose of engaging in geological exploration and development.  Subsequently, its Articles of Incorporation was amended in 1994 to change its corporate name to Cobertson Holdings Corporation and modify its primary purpose to that of a holding company.  In late 1995, the Articles of Incorporation was amended a second time to assume its present identity as MacroAsia Corporation.

The Company incorporated two of its wholly-owned subsidiaries – MacroAsia Properties Development Corporation (MAPDC) and MacroAsia Air Taxi Services, Inc. (MAATS) in June of 1996.  MAPDC operates the Special Economic Zone at the NAIA and MAATS provides helicopter chartering services.

In October 1996, Cebu Pacific Catering Services, Inc. (CPCS) commenced operations as the Company’s first in-flight catering venture.  CPCS is the only in-flight catering business at the Mactan-Cebu International Airport (MCIA). By November 1996, MacroAsia Catering Services, Inc. (MACS), the Company’s second in-flight catering venture, was incorporated.  MACS started commercial operations at the NAIA in 1998.

In 1997, MAC expanded into ground handling services through MacroAsia Airport Services Corporation (MASCORP.   MASCORP provides ground handling services of passenger and cargo needs of commercial and military aircrafts.

In 2000, MAC expanded into the aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) business through Lufthansa Technik Philippines, Inc. (LTP).  LTP, which is a joint-venture with Lufthansa Technik AG, is now recognized as a globally competitive MRO company at par with many of the best MRO providers in the world.

MAC ventured into third-party logistics in 2006, through a startup company, Toll-MacroAsia Philippines, Inc. (TMP).  TMP’s business model seeks to integrate the data, transportation, inventory, warehousing, material-handling and packaging as a channel of the supply chain requirements of various industries.

MAC has evolved to become the Philippines’ largest integrated aviation support service company. Its wide array of services encompass in-flight catering, ground handling, aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO), helicopter chartering and a developer/operator of a Special Economic Zone at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).

Also today, MAC is a holder of two (2) Mineral Production Sharing Agreements (MPSA) with the government due to the renewal of mining leases that the company held as a mining company from its startup years in the 1970’s.  Its more advanced project is the Infanta Nickel Project in Brooke’s Point Palawan.  This project covers a total land area of about 1,114 hectares.  This old mine used to produce ore shipments to Japan in the 1970’s and is now be re-started for operations upon full compliance with statutory requirements.
